Coventry Bible College

The purpose of the Bible College is to train and equip students for ministry and leadership by building a solid foundation of the basic Christian doctrines in a student’s life. There will be opportunities for hands-on experience, workshops, as well as planned discussion times.
The end result will be that students gain a working knowledge of the information received during their time at CBC It is important that each student receives a good understanding of “what he/she believes” and “why he/she believes it.”
Focus is very much centred on and around our core values, our DNA if you like, of faith, the believer’s authority and being led by the Holy Spirit. What you learn during this time should impact and alter your life in a biblical way and thereby increase your fruitfulness in The Kingdom.
The purpose of the Level One Training is to ground every student in the fundamentals of our faith, thereby bringing everyone onto the “same page”. After completing the Level One Diploma in Biblical Studies , the student is then eligible to attend any future Level One Diploma class they have already successfully passed at no charge.
If new subjects are offered in the future as part of Level One, the student may attend at no charge but will be required to purchase any textbooks required for the class. We serve a God of excellence and therefore we, at CBC, endeavour to do everything to a standard of excellence. Students are expected to do the same and will be required to adhere to all policies that are written in the Student Manual, including attendance at all lectures, punctuality, detailed note-taking and the dress code.

In CBC some of the core believes are:

The Scriptures

The Bible is the inspired Word of God, the product of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. We accept the New Covenant, as recorded in the New Testament, as our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine (2 Tim. 3:16; 1 Thess. 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21).

The Godhead

Our God is one, but manifested in three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, being co-equal (Phil. 2:6). The Son is the Word made flesh, the only Begotten, and has existed with the Father from the beginning (John 1:1; John 1:18; John 1:14). The Holy Spirit proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and is eternal (John 15:26).

Man, his fall, and redemption

Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world. “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” “As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.” Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the work of the devil. He gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God (Rom. 5:14; Rom. 3:10; Rom. 3:23; 1 John 3:8). Salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from works and the law, and is made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God (Eph. 2:8). Eternal life and the new birth: Man’s first step toward salvation is godly sorrow that works repentance. The New Birth is necessary for all men, and when experienced, produces ceternal life (2 Cor. 7:10; 1 John 5:12; John 3:3-5).

Baptism

Baptism in water is by immersion, is a direct commandment of our Lord, and is for believers only. This ordinance is a symbol of the Christian’s identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection (Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:4; Col. 2:12; Acts 8:36-39).

Baptism in the Holy Ghost

The Baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers in this dispensation and is received subsequent to the New Birth. This experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit Himself gives utterance (Matt. 3:11; John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:38-39; Acts 19:1-7; Acts 2:4).

Sanctification

The Bible teaches that without sanctification no man can see the Lord. We believe in the Doctrine of Sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the consummation of salvation at Christ’s return (Heb. 12:14; 1 Thess. 5:23; 2 Peter 3:18; 2 Cor. 3:18; Phil. 3:12-14; 1 Cor. 1:30).

Divine healing

Healing is for the physical ills of the human body and is wrought by the power of God through various Bible methods including the prayer of faith, and by the laying on of hands. It is provided for in the atonement of Christ, and is the privilege of every member of the Church today (Mark 16:18; James 5:14-15; 1 Peter 2:24; Matt. 8:17; Isa. 53:4-5).

Resurrection of the just, the return of Our Lord

The angels said to Jesus’ disciples, “… this same Jesus … shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” His coming is imminent. When He comes, “… the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air…; (Acts 1:11; 1 Thess. 4:16- 17). Following the Tribulation, He shall return to earth as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords together with His saints, who shall be kings and priests. He shall reign a thousand years (Rev. 20:6).

Hell and eternal retribution

The one who physically dies in his sins without accepting Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the Lake of Fire and, therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or repenting. The Lake of Fire is literal. The terms “eternal”; and “everlasting”, used in describing the duration of the punishment of the condemned in the Lake of Fire, carry the same thought and meaning of endless existence as used in denoting the duration of joy and ecstasy of saints in the presence of God (Heb. 9:27; Rev. 29:20

My experience with Coventry Bible College has been amazing! I have taken away so much new information that I currently use in my own personal ministry. As I read the required books for each class and took exams I found out interesting facts that I may have originally looked over.
The lectures allow me to hear deeper TRUTH on different topics and subjects from the class. As I grow with Christ, Coventry Bible College is providing me with the tools that I need in order to share the Gospel with the world! I am extremely thankful for that!

Throughout my first year and second year in Coventry Bible College, the experience was great. The lecturer and content that were made available are excellent tools for an individual to utilize within any ministry they are pursuing. I would highly recommend any person to consider attending Coventry Bible College.

My experience with Coventry Bible has not only been good for my spiritual development, but it has also has helped me to encounter God even more. I believe Coventry Bible has provided me with a good foundation and prepared me for the opportunities God has for me out in the real world. The highest benefits of Coventry Bible are not limited to earning knowledge, but also to take everything I have learned through this program and put it into practice in every moment of my life.

As a Coventry Bible student, I find myself enjoying learning from the lectures and textbooks.I often discuss what I’ve read in the books or what I have learned from the lecturs in everyday conversation. Coventry Bible College classes feed my intellectual side as well as my spirit. They refresh me with new ways of thinking about leadership, servant-hood, and discipleship. Any answers to questions I have are a question away and I can email and ask my lecturers who are are glad to answer them with understanding and joy. Coventry Bible College has trained my mind for ministry, missions, worship, counselling, youth ministry, or general ministry. I believe it mimics the ministry of Jesus, it is designed to meet people where they are, then help develop the skills, knowledge, and mindset needed for success.

Over the past two years I’ve had the privilege enjoying inspiring spirit led lectures and teaching in Coventry Bible College and decide to go for level two. My experience with Coventry Bible is unlike any other schooling experience. The classes are set up in such a way that fits my busy schedule. I can hand in assignments with convince, as opposed to having un realistic deadline. When I am juggling Bible College and five other things including work and family, it really makes a difference. I was not sure how to I would cope but the College provides flexibility and amazing support. I am able to afford fees and my faith keeps growing as I encounter all this teaching and experiences. Another thing that has stood out to me is the fact that instructors really make an effort to keep God first and in centre of all they teach. Each lecture I attended was kind of like a sermon of sorts. With each lecture, I felt like I was being poured into instead of just being sat in a class to learn the material for the class. Coventry Bible has been nothing short of excellence.

I wanted to say thank you to John and Sally for listening to God's voice to start and maintain Coventry Bible College. The way you arranged and set up the College lectures, handing in assignments, ensuring I am involved in ministry in my local church, instalment payment for fees, accessing missed lectures as recorded audio, bringing in visiting speakers who have years of ministry experience and walk with the Lord, personal support you provide and much more to me, is self-motivating and perfectly suited for me. I truly enjoyed my experience is Coventry Bible Collge.

I have come to LOVE CBC. In school I was never a very academic student. I struggled with a lot of things because I never have had a very good memory. Tests and quizzes were VERY hard for me in school because I just could not retain information. In CBC was such a good choice for me because you work really well with me and especially your schedule which has spaced three week Bible College weekend and exams that are mostly simple and intended to emphasis spiritual growth rather than mental knowledge only . I came to Coventry Bible college to grow spiritually and I am seeing that happen in my daily lifestyle. I was excited because it was going to be perfect as I will know what God’s will is rather than my ambitions. I am learning SO MUCH from these classes and it is definitely preparing me for what’s to come. I’m really, really happy with Coventry Bible College and I couldn’t ask for a better spiritual schooling that is for sure.

Coventry Bible College has been absolutely wonderful! I started classes and absolutely fell in love with the easy to understand teaching, the lectures, and the schedule. I look forward to every new class! The team at Coventry Bible College is so great, constantly working to help you in whatever way that you need, and make sure that these classes are providing growth and edification. All the lecturers are so engaging. DVDs and visiting speakers add extra inspiration. Another thing that I love about them is how personal they are. There aren't many colleges that will work to encourage you as much as CBC lecturers are. This year has been awesome within CBC, I'm absolutely loving how well it has been and I definitely plan to continue my studies with CBC to Level 2. I recommend CBC especially for those who are want to grow in the thinks of God and for those going into the ministry, because It has helped me so much to prepare for what I am called to do. Also for those who are not going to full time ministry, you will still get a wonderful experience and a great equipping and exposure to the word of God. Thank you so much CBC, you guys are great.

Personally, coming from a background like mine, I never once thought that I would be able to go to a Bible college and actually learn anything. Just thinking about it would get me a little down. Then, through a friend, I learned about Coventry Bible College. Knowing that I could do 2 years of Bible College and get ready to walk in faith and go into ministry made me so excited. I despised and had a low opinion about the Bible College and thought it was not for me. Never, in a million years, did I ever think that I would be in this position-in the Bible College!!!!. I was one of those the Bible said “ But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)” Knowing that I can make a difference and get trained for it in an affordable manner and at a decent pace; I thought "why not?" I is now clear to me that God know the end from the beginning.
